Reverse slope noted around shower area grating.
If slope is not provided in proper direction , then floor water will not get drained easily as it will flow opposite to floor drain outlet/grating. It will lead to water pockets at corners and lead to damp / seepage related issues in adjacent wall or floor surface. This will lead to damaged property / associated furniture and health issues. Moreover its rectification will cost large amount and time factor.
We recommend to review and if required, floor tiles to be relaid maintaining proper slope towards floor drain outlet and adequate strengthening of sealant at floor and wall tile junction.

A Session on Inspection Training relating to Damp, Seepage and Moisture Assessment through Thermal Imaging Technology was conducted by the Kolkata Team.
Crack noted on wall at lintel height.
We recommend:
Step 1 : Making 2 mm groove along the crack till the depth of plaster.
Step 2 : Cleaning & Sealing the crack with ready to use ‘crack seal’ as per manufacturer’s specification.
Step 3 : Primer & paint finishing as per manufacturer’s specification.
A horizontal support of timber, stone, concrete, or steel across the top of a door or window.
Significant paint deterioration and damp on wall plaster surface above skirting and subsequent deterioration of door frame noted. Area affected due to moisture intrusion from unfilled gaps between wall tile and skirting tile joints in the adjacent bathroom.
Deterioration of door frame is due to moisture seepage along the wall surface, thereby adding an extra cost in expenditure and creating unhealthy living condition & negative aesthetics. If source of moisture is not treated at right time, it can further affect attached areas which can create havoc in your home.
We recommend, junction cleaning and sealing gaps with suitable tile filling material.
Non insulated wires used at switch to switch parallel connection.
Non insulated wires will lead to current loss, which can also be a safety hazard for residents & will create difficulty during maintenance. As per electrical practice, for switch to switch parallel connection insulated loop wire to be provided to increase efficiency.
We recommend use of insulated loop wire for safety and ease of maintenance.
Insulated wire consists of non-conductive / related material that is resistant to an electric current. It surrounds and protects the wire inside.
Part hollowness noted at marble flooring in entrance hall and wall tiles in bathrooms.
If not rectified, hollowness can lead to further cracks in tiles / marbles & looseness from bed mortar.This can lead to water intrusion through cracks and which can create further problems in other associated or attached areas and damp / seepage issues, thereby increase maintenance cost and hassles to residents.
We recommend:
Option 1
Step 1 – Tiles joint cutting with diamond blade tile cutter.
Step 2 – Preparation & pouring of high viscosity cement grout & adequate vibration to be made on floor tile with rubber hammer during pouring.
Step 3 – Tile joint to be sealed with colour matching tile grout.
Option 2
Step 1 – Minor hole to be made in the centre of the hollowness with hollow diamond drill bit.
Step 2 – Preparation & pouring of high viscosity cement grout & adequate vibration to be made on floor tile/marble with rubber hammer during pouring.
Step 3 – Hole to be sealed with colour matching tile grout/stone grout.
Either Option 1 or 2 can be applied for tiles and only Option 2 for Marble flooring.
A diamond drill bit is a helpful tool when it comes to making holes in hard non-wood surfaces such as ceramic, porcelain, glass, stone, marble and granite.
A diamond blade is a saw blade which has diamonds fixed on its edge for cutting hard materials.
A mortar is a mixture of sand, cement and water and the bed mortar is layer of mortar on which other material is laid for adhesion with former layer surface.
