Tile is mainly used for containing the water within a particular area. And tile itself an impervious material. If skirting is not fitted in the area where tile flooring is ending, then water will pass into the next layer of finishing. This will lead to spreading of moisture on the adjacent wall. In simpler words, tile flooring without skirting is like a flat plate; if we pour water into flat plate the water will travel to the edges of the plate & flow to the outside i.e. underside. But if skirting is fitted, it will act like a plate with edges like rice plate; hence will contain the water within.

As brick and RCC are two different material with different characteristics, there are high chances of water penetration from the junction. So along the roof edges and parapets, corners and pipe penetrations, a minimum 100 mm fillet should be provided. This will also ensure easy installation of the membrane and help to reduce the stress in the membrane as compared to bending it at 90° without the fillet.

Parapet wall top is the horizontal surface of the external wall. There is nothing which acts as barrier for external rain water. Also there is crack and hollowness on the parapet. This causes penetration of water inside the wall and can easily spread in associated parts of your house. Avoid this condition, by repairing it as soon as possible.

Non uniform joint filling with visible gaps along junction of counter stone with dado tiles near sink. Due to this seepage will happen due to splashing of water while using washing utensils. This will create problem by adding an extra repairing cost and related time factor.

No floor tiles provided at floor outlet position and filled with grout (white cement / putty) in floor outlet side. Due to this there is difference in level of floor and the area around outlet, leading to stagnancy of water and dirt. Also this filling does not serve for longer time. Hence if not corrected at right time will create moisture seeping problems in attached/ associated area, causing damage and hassles.

False ceiling discoloration noted on front wall side. As seen with IR image live water dripping noted from AC gas pipe running above. This happened as no insulation was provided there. This is a high risk hazard as electrical equipments are just under the dripping area. If not rectified can hamper residents by creating unsafer condition.
